Virginia Lambert Foose

Virginia Lambert Foose, 79, affectionately known as the “Georgetown Cake Lady”, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 25, 1945, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Charley Lambert and the late Annie Mable Griffin Lambert. Ms. Foose was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Conway where she was once involved in many church activities. Her passion for baking and cooking made her a well-loved figure in the community. Ms. Foose’s famous cakes were a staple at local gatherings and celebrations throughout Georgetown and the surrounding areas. She enjoyed the simple things in life that included fishing and watching John Wayne, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson and her nephew.

Survivors include two children, Thomas J. Foose, III (Dorinda) of Georgetown and Rebecca A. Staats (Tom) of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Daniel Nesmith, Robert Gardner (Hayley) of Evansville, IN and James Gardner (Dani) of Buford, GA; one great grandson, Damon Gardner of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Carol White of Alpharetta, GA and Cindy Jordan of Georgetown; one brother, Jerry Lambert (Tammy) of Conway; a special nephew, Jarrod Jordan (Rae) of Andrews; two special nieces, Roxie Heideman (Greg) of Georgetown and Crystal Poston (Jimmy) of Georgetown; numerous other nieces and nephews; and her cherished fur baby, Ava.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Dr. Thomas J. Foose; one sister, Mary Frances Hammond; a brother, Charles R. Lambert; and brother-in-law, Stephen White.

Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Monday, May 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Georgetown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
