Thaddeus H. (Thad) Holley, Sr, 77, of Georgetown, SC, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

Born on July 17, 1948, Thad was the son of the late D.L. and Louise Holley, Sr. He dedicated his life to education and service within his community. Over the course of his career, he served as a teacher, assistant principal, and guidance counselor. His commitment to supporting children through their academic journeys left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Thad will be dearly missed by his wife of 48 years, Charlotte Chestnut Holley and by his three children Laura (Jimmy) Matthews of Houston, TX, Michelle (Kenny Coltharp) Cumbie of Georgetown, SC, and Thaddeus (Chad) H. Holley, Jr of Colorado Springs, CO. He will also be remembered by his three grandchildren, Holley Smith and Craig Smith of Sylva, NC and Brian (Courtney) Cumbie and a great granddaughter, Sylvie Cumbie.

He is also survived by a brother, D.L. (Lester) Holley, Jr of Louisburg, NC.

Thad was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Herbert (Nick) and Virginia (Ginny) Shearin and a sister-in-law, Linda Holley.

Thad loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. There were always fishing stories to be told and vegetables to be shared.

Above all else, Thad was a devoted husband and father whose warmth extended to his many friends. Those who knew him will remember his calm spirit and generosity.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. A celebration of Thad’s life will take place at a later date.
