Rosemarie Austermann Ellis passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Rosi was born on July 24, 1940, in Lippstadt, Germany. From an early age, she displayed a spirited personality, often keeping her parents on their toes with her precocious nature. Despite her lively disposition, Rosi excelled academically and was a devoted sister.
In 1967, while working as a typist in Berlin, Rosi met Avery Ellis. Their connection led them to settle in South Carolina in 1969, where they began a new chapter together. Rosi dedicated herself to raising their three children—Roger, Michelle, and Henry—and was known for being an attentive and loving mother.
In 1985, Rosi began working in the Accounting Department at Bosch, where she remained a dedicated employee for twenty years. Her commitment and work ethic were evident throughout her tenure, and she retired after two decades of service.
During the last ten years of her life, Rosi and Avery divided their time between Alabama and South Carolina. These years were especially meaningful to her, as she cherished the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with her family.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Avery; three children, Roger Ellis, Michelle (Eric) Ahlberg, and Henry (Leah) Ellis; four grandchildren, Charles Ahlberg, Richard (Kelly) Ahlberg, Sallie Rose Ellis, and Jackson Ellis; two great-grandchildren, Eric Brooks and Peyton Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind two sisters, Ulla Austerman and Lillie Erig in Germany.
A visitation for Rosi will be held from 3-5 PM, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Georgetown, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, or Goodwill.
