Rose Newton Carter, 66, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at her home.
Born on October 14, 1959, in Andrews, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Legrand Newton and the late Isolene Ward Newton. Mrs. Newton grew up attending Spring Pond Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed watching and being apart of the Georgetown Church of God’s online ministry. She found joy in life's quiet moments, especially while creating beautiful cross-stitch pieces that reflected her patience, creativity, and loving spirit. More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her family. Whether gathered for holidays, special occasions, or simple everyday moments, being surrounded by those she loved brought her the greatest happiness. Mrs. Carter’s kindness, gentle heart, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered and treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two children, Donna Connelly of Andrews and Kenneth E. Carter (Bridget) of Andrews; four grandchildren, Holden Connelly (Meagan Vause), Kaylee Connelly, Kaleigh Moore and Cody Carter all of Andrews; a son-in-law, John Connelly of Clinton; two brothers, Jerry Newton (Betty) of Andrews and Rev. Ronald Newton (Shirley) of Hemingway; two sisters, Ruthalee Howard and Diane McCants both of Andrews; one sister-in-law, Glenda Newton of Turbeville; best friend and caregiver, Tabbitha Starr Carver of Georgetown; a special friend, Ada Connelly of Andrews and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evalene Newton Altman and Betty Mae Newton Baylor; four brothers, Yoakum Philhood Newton, Douglas Webster "Bud" Newton, Dale Walter Newton and Donald "Donnie" Newton; three brothers-in-law, Harry Howard, Jamey McCants, Pressley Altman and Jhue Baylor; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Newton and Vera Newton; and a special friend, Albert Randolph.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 24, 2026, at Spring Pond Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be at 5:00 PM Friday in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Spring Pond Pentecostal Holiness Church.
