Roberta Nix Jones Taylor, 72, wife of John C. “JC” Taylor, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, leaving a legacy of love, kindness and selflessness.
Born on December 22, 1952, in Dorchester County, she was a daughter of the late Aaron Nix and the late Mary Ellen Jackson Nix. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Spring Gulley Baptist Church and devoted her life caring for others. She worked diligently as a caretaker – a role that she embraced with compassion and dedication. Mrs. Taylor’s gentle and giving nature touched the lives of many, and her commitment to helping others was unwavering.
Mrs. Taylor was a woman of many talents and found joy in the simple pleasure of life. She was an avid cook, and her skillful hands created beautiful pieces of art through sewing and crocheting. Above all, Mrs. Taylor cherished her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchild; time filled with love and laughter. Her warmth and affection extended to everyone she met, embodying the true spirit of a Christ like life.
Survivors include her husband of Andrews; one son, Phillip Jones (Shonna Carter) of Andrews; nine step children, Sharon Thomas (Allen) of Andrews, Charlene Carroll (Scott) Andrews, Pam Amerson of Georgetown, Crystal Bell McCutcheon (Brian) of Andrews, Gwendolyn Taylor of Sumter, John Taylor, Jr. of Andrews, Carl Taylor of Andrews, Erica Kennedy (Archie) of Lake City and Dr. Emily Taylor of Wichita Falls, TX; two grandchildren, Brixton Jones and Ryker Carter; 13 step grandchildren; 30 step great grandchildren; one brother, AJ Nix (Lori) of GA; sister-in-law and best friend, Elaine Ott of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Farrel Jones; and three sisters, Diane Wiggins, Jean Cumbie and Ellen Peeples.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 17, 2025, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Church of Andrews Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Friday at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
