Michael James Michau, 51, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Born in Georgetown, SC, to Ulmer and Agnes Michau, Michael was a man whose roots shaped his compassionate outlook on life. He is preceded in death by his father.
Michael graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree. A lifelong devotee of the canine world, Michael’s accomplishments spoke to his skill and dedication. He had top two AKC obedience trained champion (OTCh titles), he made a significant mark in the world of dog training and competition. Michael was a member of the Myrtle Beach Kennel Club and the service organization C.L.A.W.S. in Myrtle Beach.
His life reflected a commitment not only to excellence for others who were different or outsiders, but to nurturing a sense of community among fellow enthusiasts. Whether in competitive arenas or through personal training sessions. Michael’s affinity for dogs shone brightly, bringing joy, discipline, and camaraderie to his life and the lives of others.
He is survived by his mother of Georgetown, partner, Scott Sloan of Myrtle Beach, his cherished fur babies, Dusk and Brig, who shared in his everyday adventures; and by a special cousin, Michelle Ahlberg (Eric) of Georgetown, along with many other cousins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday June 28th from 5 pm to 7pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
