Marjorie Virginia Foster Thompson, 91, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at National Health Care.
Born on June 13, 1934, in Palatka, FL, she was a daughter of the late Alton Brooks Foster and the late Margaret Renew Foster. Ms. Thompson dedicated her life to the service of others both professionally and personally. She graduated from South Carolina Baptist Hospital College of Nurses in 1957. Ms. Thompson worked for Georgetown Memorial Hospital as a nurse for 35 years, spending a majority of her career in the operating room. Her compassion, skill, and dedication to her patients and colleagues left an indelible mark that will be remembered for years to come.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Thompson was a devoted member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She lovingly taught an adult Sunday School class, and her voice was a cherished addition to the church choir. Ms. Thompson was always eager to lend a hand with Children's Church, fostering both spiritual growth and community.
Ms. Thompson found joy in life’s simple pleasures, particularly reading and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of a cherished grandmother.
Survivors include one son, Thomas G. Thompson, Jr. (Dette) of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Breann Ethridge (David) of Georgetown, Tiffany Morris (Wesley) of Georgetown and Scott Moore (Elizabeth) of Georgetown; honorary grandchildren, Christopher Cerasaro (Madalyn), Stephen Cerasaro and Jackie Cerasaro all of Charlotte; four great grandchildren, Glen Chasity, Landon Ethridge, Cole Moore and Harper Morris; one sister, Lee Coleman of Virginia; a son-in-law, Tracy Moore of Georgetown; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Foster of Columbia and Linda Foster of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Moore; a son, James A. Thompson; and two brothers, James Foster and Bill Foster.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
