Margaret Louise (LaPlante) Sheehan

Margaret Louise (LaPlante) Sheehan, 85, wife of Mark Sheehan, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at National Health Care in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Peggy was born and raised in Taunton, MA, daughter of the late Narcisse D. and Mabel C. (Sutcliffe) LaPlante, where she graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in 1957. Her love for her high school laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education and service. Her career as a school secretary, spanning over three decades, was marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to supporting both students and faculty alike. A devout Catholic, she was a woman of faith who lived her beliefs through service and community involvement.

Peggy was a member of the Bourne Woman's Club and was a secretary in the Tahanto Association, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed her time and talents generously. Her passions extended beyond her professional and social commitments. She was a social bridge player and loved being in her knitting group. She had a green thumb and a love of flowers, especially pink ones, as shown by the abundance of hydrangeas in her yard. Her love for these activities was surpassed only by her love for the people she shared them with. Her social nature was infectious, and she cherished the conversations and laughter shared with friends and family. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Sheehan of Georgetown; three children, Karen Macedo (Michael) of Georgetown, Mark Sheehan (Theresa) of Canton, GA and Matthew Sheehan (Lori) of Wareham, MA; six grandchildren, Allison Macedo of Bogart, GA, Kate Macedo of Brooklyn, NY, Laura Sheehan of Acworth, GA, Mary McDermott (Michael) of Dublin, Ireland, Tom Sheehan (Larissa) of Northport, NY, and Megan Sheehan of Sharon, MA; one sister, Joan Marchand of Falmouth, MA; one brother, David Laplante (Gwen) of Bellingham, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
