Lis Lopdrup Thogersen, 94, widow of Bjorn Thogersen, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Mrs. Thogersen was born in Denmark on July 6, 1931, to the late Emil Lopdrup and the late Asta Nielsen Lopdrup. She lived through the German occupation of World War II. She finished her schooling and married Bjorn Thogersen and set out for the United States as a young wife and enjoyed a rich life in Camden.
When DuPont presented an opportunity, her family moved to Holland to be closer to their parents, and that offered a chance for travel through Europe. The family moved back to Camden When the children were entering high school. Later, when the kids were out of college, Lis and Bjorn took an interesting assignment with the start-up of a new DuPont plant in Iran, exiting just before the revolution in 1979.
Lis was blessed with the care and assistance of her Angel, Irma Portillo. For the past two years, she enjoyed the warm company of the residents and caretakers at the Crossings of Georgetown. She attended Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the Friday Painting Clan and Saturday Lunch Girls.
Lis lived a life rich with family, travel, the blessings of friends and the sweetness of Camden and the Blue Ridge Mountains. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, with a ready smile and a loving heart. She loved gardening and painting the beautiful flowers and landscapes which she found in our extraordinary world. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two children, Paul Thogersen (Cheri) of Kirbyville, TX, and Anne Marie Marozas (Marvin) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Amy Witte (Sparky) of Austin, TX, Tara Bogue (Jonathen) of Kirbyville, TX, Michael Marozas (Elizabeth) of Conway, Jason Marozas of Conway, and Erik Wagner of West Hollywood, CA; and five great grandchildren, Madelynn Bogue, Evie Witte, Juliet Bogue, Keen Witte, and Ethan Marozas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bjorn Thogersen; a son, Peter Thogersen; two brothers, Kjeld Lopdrup and Finn Fauk.
A visitation will begin at 2:30, PM, followed by Funeral Services at 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden SC 29020.
