Linda Forbes Wood, 77, wife of Willie Elbert Wood, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Born on May 12, 1948, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. Forbes and the late Bessie Morris Forbes Mangum. Mrs. Wood retired from the International Paper Company after more than 30 years of devoted service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Beyond her career, Mrs. Wood loved an adventure. She was a member of the Swamp Fox Fellowship Riders, where she shared her love for motorcycle riding with like-minded enthusiasts. Mrs. Wood also found immense joy in camping, working in her yard, quilting, knitting and spending time with her animals. Fishing trips were another cherished pastime, and cooking was a labor of love. Above all, it was the time spent with her family that brought Mrs. Wood the greatest happiness. Her warmth and kindness were the heart of every gathering, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; four children, Lisa Jordan Ward (Benjamin), Billy "Bubby" Jordan, Jr. (Robin), Wendy Jordan Redick (Wes) and Christie Jordan Comer (Henry) all of Georgetown; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin Ward, Jr. (Jenny), Brad Ward, Kelsey Tucker (Michael), Corey Ward, Sydnie Jordan Lindsey (Shawn Lindsey), Wesley Redick, Caroline Redick Blakely (Nick), Amanda Lutz, Travis Tyner, Sadie Comer and Courtney Comer; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Redick, Baylor James Redick, Amelia Tucker, Charlotte Ward, Franklin Ward and Riley Lindsey; four step children, Tony Cockfield (Rhonda) of Hemingway, Charles Wood (Jennifer) of Georgetown, Regina Linderman of Georgetown and Will Wood (Becky) of Georgetown; one sister, Thomasina Shaw (Johnny) of Georgetown; and several step nieces, step nephews and step great grandchildren.
