Lauren Paige McKenzie, 58, born in Florence, SC passed away peacefully on the morning of July 26, 2025 with each surviving daughter sitting on either side of her holding onto her. Survivors include parents, Franklin and Judy McKenzie; two daughters, Sydney Blanchard (Joshua) and Hope Stiles (John); Grandchildren, Sonya, August, John, Isla, and namesake Paige; sister, Melanie Smith (Michael); dear friend, Steven Good; beloved pet, Bear; and many, many cherished friends.
Lauren McKenzie was a free-spirited, competitive, hard worker. She had recently succeeded in her life’s goal of establishing a successful business. Her pet sitting company, Grand Strand Pet Sitting, saw almost a 400% increase in business so far this year. She was grateful to all of her clients who shared their puppies and kitties with her- they brought her great joy. Towards the end of her strong, short fight with cancer she was comforted and visited by MUSC’s pet therapy dogs MaBelle (Pomeranian), Folly (retriever), Sampson (retriever), and her favorite Harold (St. Bernard).
Lauren growing up was a fierce and talented softball player. She took her team as their pitcher to win the Girls Softball National Champions and was voted their Most Valuable Player. After getting married she spent years traveling and moving to and having many adventures in Florida, California, Hawaii, NC, and upstate NY to name a few. She loved the Gamecocks, watching Hockey, and participating in bowling leagues. She made friends everywhere she went and her bubbly, light personality brought joy to many.
Her favorite activities included walking her dog Bear each morning and spending time with her friends and grand babies. She loved being “fun grandma” and enjoyed playing with them, spoiling them, taking them to the beach and park. Her favorite color was yellow and her favorite food was shrimp. She enjoyed listening to country music and artists including Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Billy Currington, Kid Rock, etc.
The family is comforted knowing that she no longer suffers and is enjoying a long embrace with her beloved daughter Reagan.
Out of respect for Lauren’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service. The family requests beloved memories and photos be shared below.
