Kane Bryant Grimes, 16, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026, at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Born on October 27, 2009, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the Danielle Bryant Grimes and William Lee Grimes. Kane attended The Sanctuary at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church and Ringel Heights Baptist Church and was a student at Georgetown High School, where he was in the 10th grade. He had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his time fishing with friends and family. Kane was an avid NASCAR fan, finding thrill and excitement in the races he watched. He had a beloved cat, Jeremiah, who held a special place in his heart, providing companionship and joy through the years. Above all, Kane treasured his time with his sisters and cousins, who adored him dearly. Kane was a beacon of kindness and respect, always treating everyone he encountered with warmth and love. His infectious smile and generous spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother, Danielle Bryant Grimes (Brandon Lee) of Kingstree; father, William Lee Grimes of Georgetown; maternal grandparents, Suzette Prevatte Gibson (Jay) of Georgetown and Terry Bryant (Lynnette) of Georgetown; paternal grandparents, David Grimes (Libby) of Lebanon, KY and Wilma Chaddic of Louisville, KY; three sisters, Darian Grimes of Lexington, KY, MaKayla Bryant of Kingstree and Sawyer Grimes of Kingstree; a step sister, McClary Lee of Johnsonville; a step brother, Caleb Lee of Johnsonville; a nephew, Waylon Bryant of Kingstree; four uncles, Dustin Bryant (Angel) of Georgetown, George Bryant of Georgetown, Colson Bryant of Georgetown and Kenny Grimes (Bobbie Joe) of Louisville, KY; one aunt, Kelci Smoak (Brad) of Georgetown; six cousins, Nathan Bryant, Connor Bryant, Tyler Bryant, Alaina Bryant, Hampton Smoak and Nixon Smoak; numerous other cousins from Kentucky; and his medical team who was more like family, Dr. Stein, Dr. Kerstein, Jay Hartford and Kelly Woodmansee and numerous other nurses and doctors all of Boston.
He was preceded in death by maternal great grandparents, James and Shelvie Bryant and Jerlean and Bennie Prevatte.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Friday, April 17, 2026, at The Sanctuary at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
