John Henry White

John Henry “Rooster” White, 82, widower of Norma Jean Moore White, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on May 28, 1942, in Andrews, he was a son of the late Robert Lee White, Sr. and the late Ruby Jane Ethridge White. Mr. White retired from Santee River Wool Mill after more than 30 years of dedicated service. His unwavering commitment and tireless work ethic set an inspiring example to all who knew him. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship, John’s expertise and problem-solving skills were unparalleled—he could fix anything that came his way, a testament to his passion for working on cars and his knack for mechanics. Outside of work, Mr. White found joy in the simple pleasures of life that included his passion for his red truck, always making sure it was clean and maintained. He also had a love for Oreos, a cold Sprite, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud was well known amongst family and friends. Mr. White was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Norma. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and her presence was deeply missed. Along with his treasured wife, Mr. White treasured his family whom he always enjoying spending time with. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Marie Geddings (Kenny) of Andrews and Kathy Vermeland (Robbie) of Andrews; five grandchildren, Joni Geddings of Georgetown, Candice Geddings of Andrews, Amber Thompkins (Greg) of Georgetown, Hannah Skipper (Dylan) of Andrews and Andrew Vermeland of Old Fort, NC; six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Altman and Mary Lou Maine; and two brothers, Robert Lee "RL" White, Jr. and Jerome White. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
