John Edward “Eddie” Goins, Jr., 73, husband of Melanie Luthi Goins, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at his home.
Born on August 31, 1952, in Georgetown, he was a son of Jean Webber Goins and the late Rev. John Edward Goins. Mr. Goins was a member of Grace Revival Center; he trusted the Lord throughout his life and found joy in serving others with the talents God had given him. For 32 years, he was a dedicated employee of Georgetown Steel Mill, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his commitment and work ethic. Outside of work, he was a gifted carpenter and craftsman who could build or repair just about anything. He took great pride in working with his hands.
Music was one of his greatest passions. Whether he was playing the guitar or singing, he had a way of bringing joy to those around him. Mr. Goins was a diehard Carolina Gamecock fan and had a great love for playing tennis. Above all else, Mr. Goins treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with those he loved, especially his grandsons, who lovingly knew him as "Pops."
