James Russell "Jimmy Mac" McCants

James Russell “Jimmy Mac” McCants, 64, husband of Sue Thomas McCants, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born January 26, 1962, in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Russell Everette McCants and Carolyn Norton McCants. Mr. McCants was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church. He lived life to the fullest, on his own terms, and hunting, fishing and spending time on the water were some of his favorite past times.

Survivors include his wife of Andrews; four children, James Micheal McCants (Brittany) Chelsea, AL, Travis Miles McCants (Megan) Alexander City, AL, Russ Newton (Shannon) of Macedonia and Emily Newton of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Layton, Hayden, Colton, Rachel, Cooper, Loftyn and Emma Cole; one sister, Ann Newton (Mark) of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 407 Church St. Unit E Georgetown, SC 29440.
