James Ronald “Jimmy” Marks, 85, husband of Beverly McCants Marks, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at his daughter’s home.
Born on November 5, 1940, in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Beatrice “Bea” Combs Darnell and the late Bobby Darnell. Mr. Marks attended Spring Gulley Baptist Church and was a US Navy veteran. Mr. Marks embarked on a successful career at General Dynamics in Goose Creek, where he retired as a superintendent. Known for his intelligence and problem-solving skills, he generously helped many people build houses and shared his extensive electrical knowledge. He was also very good with computers.
In his retirement, Mr. Marks continued to make significant contributions. He was hired by 21st Century Fox, where he played a pivotal role in the construction of the Titanic replica for the movie The Titanic and worked as a Crane Gang Boss. His name proudly appears in the film's credits, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Additionally, he contributed to building a house used in the movie The Patriot.
An adventurous soul, Mr. Marks held a pilot’s license and found joy on the water, boating and skiing. His passion for travel took him across the country on his motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road. He also cherished camping trips and expressed his musical talents by playing the bass with friends and several bluegrass groups.
Mr. Marks's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his intelligence, generosity, and zest for life. As we honor his memory, we celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the countless lives he touched along the way.
