Eleanor Ingrid “Ellie” Tasher Petersen, 74, wife of Martin Edward “Marty” Waltemyer, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 16, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Ralph Tasher and the late Eleanor Josephine Anderson Tasher. Mrs. Petersen was a member of Pawleys Island Community Church, where she found fellowship and friendship in the Prime Timers group and her Life Group. Professionally, Mrs. Petersen was a dedicated real estate agent with Litchfield Realty. She was a regular participant in yoga classes, and her love for the outdoors was evident in her frequent walks on the beach, where she found joy in collecting shells.

Most importantly, Mrs. Petersen loved her family. She cherished every moment spent with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. Mrs. Petersen's legacy is one of love, kindness, and devotion. She leaves behind a family who adored her and a community that will forever remember her contributions and her radiant spirit.

Survivors include her husband, Martin Edward “Marty” Waltemyer of Pawleys Island; three children, Christy Jeannine Hamilton (Don) of Warrenton, VA, Martin Allan Waltemyer (Holly) of Asheville, NC and Heather Ezell (Jeff) of Appomattox, VA; ten grandchildren, Hunter Hamilton, Evan Hamilton, Mason Hamilton, Avery Hamilton, Katelyn Foster (Keaton), Autumn Will, Noah Will, Nicholas Will, Mason Waltemyer and Landon Waltemyer; one great grandchild, Ella Foster; two nephews, Brian Tasher (Greggory) of San Francisco, CA and Rob Tasher (Erica) of Sellersville, PA; one aunt, Jane Anderson of Glen Mills, PA; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Ralph Tasher, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Pawleys Island Community Church, American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
