Derek "Terry" Terrell Coker

Derek Terrell  “Terry”  Coker, 64, of Georgetown, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. Born July 2, 1960, in Georgetown to Jessie and Edna Coker, Terry grew up surrounded by the Lowcountry’s salt air.

Terry built a life around his hands— forging his own legacy as a master cabinetmaker. He poured his precision, creativity and sturdy work ethic into every piece he crafted, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. A proud member of the GNH Shrine Club, He loved the thrill of fishing Carolina’s coastal waterways just as much as the roar of an engine on race day.

He is survived by his children Dylan Coker (Taylor Cagle) and April Coker of Georgetown; his grandchildren Jaslyn Woodruff, Derek Conley Coker, Braeleigh Coker and Avah Kozma; nieces Cindy Russ, Wendy Russ, Danielle Coker, Lisa Coker and Kim Kiker; and nephew Jessie Coker. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Edna Coker, brothers Bobby, Danny and Ronald and sisters Ernestine and Pam.

Terry’s greatest joy came from family gatherings where he could spoil grandchildren or simply cast a line in the water. Though he’s gone too soon, his legacy of generosity, craftsmanship and fierce devotion to family will live on in every cabinet he built and every story he told.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held Sunday July 6, at 12pm. Family and Friends will gather at his home in Georgetown, followed by a gathering at Rocky Point Community Park, Rocky Point Drive, Georgetown, SC 29440.
