David Jayroe Newton

David Jayroe Newton, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at his home.

Born on September 5, 1950, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Robert B. Newton and the late Mary Cleo Thomas Newton. Mr. Newton attended Gourdines Chapel, served in the South Carolina National Guard and retired from International Paper Company after 55 years of service.

Survivors include one son, Joshua Newton of Pawelys Island; one grandchild, Rylee Newton of Pawleys Island; one sister, Judy Newton of Andrews; three brothers, John Newton of Andrews, Laurie Newton (Joan) of Conway and Mark Newton (Ann) of Andrews; the mother of his children, Karen Blakeley Newton of Pawleys Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel J. "Jay" Newton; three brothers, Oquinn Newton, Herman Newton and Bobby Newton.

Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
