Christine Marette Taylor Smoak, 94, widow of Lawrence A. Smoak, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at her daughter’s home.
Born on August 29, 1931, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Lex D. Taylor and the late Lou Annie Wheeler Taylor. Mrs. Smoak was a member of Earle Church and worked as a cosmetologist for more than 50 years. Along with working as a cosmetologist, Mrs. Smoak worked as an assistant librarian with Georgetown County Library system for more than 20 years. Mrs. Smoak was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, baking and watching FOX News.
Survivors include two sons, Roger L. Smoak (Sheran) of Andrews and Gary A. Smoak (Christie) of Linden, NC; two daughters, Corliss S. Woodson of Chester and Pam S. Mooneyham (Ray) of Sumter; 21 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Roger Craig Smoak and Joshua Allman Smoak; one great grandchild, Daniel David Smoak, Jr.; two sons-in-law, Larry Howard and Samuel Woodson, III; one sister, Dell McCants; and seven brothers, John O. Taylor, Phillip Taylor, Livingston Taylor, Leonard Taylor, Wilmont Taylor, Donald Taylor and Charles Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Andrews Church of God. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM Saturday at the church.
