Charlotte Oyler Player

The family is heartbroken to announce Charlotte Ann Oyler Player passed away at home on March 19, 2026. She was born in Georgetown, SC, on July 12, 1940, to Gertrude Shawver Oyler and Roy Oyler.

Mrs. Player married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Edward Jay Hugh “Cotton” Player on December 21, 1965. She was an amazing mother of four children: Jay Player (Kim Sarvis Blackwell), Kelly Player Cooper (Gary), Ernie Player (Makemie) and Shane Player (Sara) all of Pawleys Island. Her most passionate role was being the BEST Granny to her nine grandchildren: Gracyn Cooper, Chryssa Player, Clemons Cooper, Marshall Cooper, Ella Player, Landon Player, Sutton Cooper, Mary Miles Player and Hugh Player all of Pawleys Island.

Survivors also include her twin sister, Charlene Freeman (Gerald) of Georgetown; brothers-in-law, Billy Player (Gloria) of Pawleys Island and Wayne Taylor of Greenwood; sisters-in-law, Ann Cox of Pawleys Island and Judd Oyler of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, David Oyler; one sister, Pam Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Player and John Cox; and one sister-in-law, Linda Player.

Mrs. Player was born to be a wife, mother and granny. Her life was one hundred percent devoted to being the best of all three. There is no doubt she succeeded. Mrs. Player was ALWAYS there for her family and loved them selflessly every day. She proved that a loving heart is the greatest gift of all. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Job well done Charlotte aka Momma, Maw, Granny.

The family would like to thank Tidelands Community Hospice for their amazing and compassionate care.

A private family service will be held to honor Charlotte's life. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time.
