Betty Fenters Williams, 92, widow of Hoyt Monroe Williams, Jr., passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Embrace Hospice House.
Born on January 18, 1933, in Hemingway, she was a daughter of the late Sarah Martha Haselden Fenters Thrower and the late John Franklin Fenters. Mrs. Williams was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, where she was an active participant in the Ruth Sunday School class. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her involvement in various church functions. Her dedication to service extended beyond the church as she worked as a dental assistant in Georgetown and later volunteered at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Williams was deeply family-oriented, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. She delighted in attending their games, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. In her free time, she enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and sewing. Mrs. Williams leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Survivors include one son, George Richard "Ricky" Williams of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Scott Williams (Meg) of Georgetown, Angela Williams Wilson (Glenn) of Georgetown, Micheal Williams (Alicia) of Murrells Inlet and Lindsey Williams Cox (Ryan) of Andrews; six great grandchildren, Maggie Kay Williams, Mason Williams, Blake Williams, Finn Wilson, Truitt Cox, Karter Kade Cox and Saylor Wilson; a daughter-in-law, Kay Williams of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Hoyt Monroe "Spike" Williams, III; two sisters, Mary Bell Frick and Martha Ann Baldwin; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
