Alice Marie Ard Church

Alice Marie Ard Church, 79, widow of Albert Dean Church, III, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home.

Born on May 5, 1946, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Rutledge Ard and the late Edith Mae Stone Ard. Mrs. Church was a member of Screven Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to nurturing those around her, both within her family and the community. She was a mother to many and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel like part of her family. Along with taking care of others, Mrs. Church had a great love for fishing and cooking.

Survivors include five children, Albert Dean Church, IV (Ann) of Effingham, IL, Richard Church (Renee) of Georgetown, Steven Church (Alicia) of Georgetown, Chester Church (Lisa) of Myrtle Beach and Carol Swails of Andrews; 12 grandchildren, Albert D. Church, V of Georgetown, Margaret Ann Church of Chicago, IL, Tyler Church of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Ann Church of Georgetown, Elizabeth High of Charleston, Alex High of Georgetown, Thomas Church of Georgetown, Magen Cormier (Josh) of Georgetown, Ty Swails of Fayetteville, AL, Tripp Swails (Courtney) of Andrews, Mary Alice Swails of Andrews and Melody Jane Swails of Andrews; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rita Lamb of Lake City, Lukie Barefoot of Lake City, Adline Bullard (Donnie) of Georgetown and Ginny Ann Ard of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy Swails.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Christian Fortress in Andrews.

The family will receive friends following the service.
